Outdoor Classroom

In May 2015, our patron Michael Palin formally opened our outdoor classroom. This space was built in partnership with Trees for Cities and is right in our playground. We encourage all members of the community to use this space.
The aims of the outdoor classroom are to develop the children’s knowledge of plants whilst providing all children with the opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom.
Since the classroom opened, we have redesigned our curriculum to provide children with the opportunity to use the space for learning across all subjects.
Today, each class has an opportunity to work with Tom (outdoor learning teacher) in the space. At playtime, children read and work in the garden. Throughout the year, produce grown is sold by our small business group – “Carlton Crunchies”.
