At Carlton, assemblies/collective worship are seen as an opportunity to come together to celebrate, reflect and to consider social and moral issues. This time is also used an an opportunity for pupils to develop their oracy skills.
Throughout the week, there are music assemblies and celebration assemblies which focus on celebrating the achievements the children have made in their learning. The Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) assemblies which happen once a week in each key stage enable the children to consider the social and emotional aspects of life. There are a set of themes that follow throughout the year – such as “Change”, “Good to be me” and “Getting along and falling out”. At the close of each of our R.E. days (Religious Education) there is also a whole school assembly to share what has been learned.
On Fridays our assemblies are dedicated to the embedding of our Building Learning Power principles.
There are also music and poetry performances and special assemblies to which the parents and carers are invited. Please see parent/school calender for specific dates.
Parents/Carers have the right to withdraw their child from some assemblies but must contact the Head Teacher first.
